Therrien has cultivated an expansive vernacular of forms drawn from memory and the everyday. Seemingly simple subjects—including snowmen, bows, and oilcans—acquire multiple levels of reference and association, while outsize sculptures of stacks of plates, tables, chairs, and beards shift between the ordinary and the surreal.
The volume features more than twenty-five sculptures by the artist, including tables and chairs, plates, disc carts, and pots and pans, as well as his installation Red Room (2000–07). The works are shown alongside related studio and installation photography, source materials, and Polaroids taken by the artist. The publication includes essays by Margit Rowell and Norman Bryson and an illustrated biography.
